Flavio Manzoni and his team at Ferrari Styling Center in conjunction with Ferrari's engineering and aero teams conceived the P80/C as an original interpretation of a Sports Prototype Concept. Working hand-in-hand with the car's client they created a new one-off halo car that has the world biting their fists over its ludicrous and inspiring design. The goal for the project was to bring to life the styling of some of Ferrari's most iconic models, such as the Dino 206S and 330 P3/P4 of the 1960s. Although both cars were conceived as track cars, their designs laid the foundation for some of Ferrari's most elegant road-going production models. With work first beginning on the project in 2015, the P80/C had the longest development period of any one-off Ferrari project to date.

Based on the 588 GT3 due to its supreme performance and more specifically, its 50mm longer wheelbase gave the team more creative freedom. Additionally, the standard 488 has a cockpit positioned in the middle of the car when the GT3 chassis offers a more cab-forward design, lending to an elongated end that adds to the car's aggressive nature. At the front is a striking wedge-shaped design offering just enough room to fit headlights as slits that remind me of the air intakes in the grill of the 330 P3/P4. Move around to the rear, and you will find there is little in the form of bodywork other than its massive rear wing and floating diffuser giving you front row seats to the driving gear.
