The W Motors Fenyr Supersport
The Middle East has seen a few car companies pop up over the last few years, however instead of reinventing the wheel these car companies are outsourcing their engineering to far more experienced companies. Case-in-point the "300mph" Devel Sixteen being developed by Manifattura Automobili Torino or W Motor's first car, the Lykan Hypersport, which was designed by Anthony Jannarelly and mostly done by Rimac and only 7 units were ever produced. The Fenyr is a step towards higher production with a plan to produce 25 units per year with a selling price of $1.9M US. While the design is all in-house its 3.8L flat 6 is an evolution of the mid-engined RUF CTR3 Clubsport that produces 800hp and 723lb ft of torque and is mounted between the axles. The full carbon fiber chassis is built by Magna Steyr. The car also features a Triptych Active Spoiler that deploy at 75mph. The three independent surfaces are activated by a complex electromechanical system optimizing the position of each element to produce the optimum level of downforce (or drag) for each given occasion. The transmission is also German-made, the all to familiar 7-speed PDK can deliver its 800hp to the tarmac, launching the 2,976lb Fenyr from 0-60 in 2.7 sec, 0-124mph in 9.4sec and to a top speed of 245mph.
If a customer decides to drop the nearly $2M required to purchase a Fenyr, each customer will have the opportunity to make the car uniquely theirs. A Customization Consultant is appointed to guide them through the extensive customization program. Color schemes, embroidery patters, family crest's or bespoke usage of exotic leathers and materials are just a few of the customizable options. Not only is the car mind-boggling fast but it’s sophisticated as well. Designer's at W Motors wanted the car to be suitable for modern everyday life which is why they have fitted front & rear parking sensors, rear view camera, premium sound, integrated hard drive and even a mobile app that can provide the driver with important information about his or her car. Based on the looks and performance figures of the Fenyr, I'm excited to see the evolution of this small Middle Eastern Car Manufacturer and the cars they will bring to life in the future!
