The Ferrari 458

The Ferrari 458 doesn't feature a traditional manual option, making this the fourth road-car after the Enzo, Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia not to be offered with Ferrari's classic gated manual. Its suspension features F1 inspired double wishbones at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear, coupled with E-Diff and F1-Trac traction control systems from Scuderia Ferrari. All this tech means the car's cornering and longitudinal acceleration is improved by 32% when compared with the F430. The 458 was also reviewed on Top Gear, where it drag raced an F430 and won by a considerable margin. The car also lapped the Top Gear test track in 1:19.1. Thats just 0.1 seconds slower than the Enzo.

Ferrari's innovation continues with the 458's brakes where the pistons in the calipers move the pads into contact with the discs on lift off to give you the most responsive braking possible. This combined with the ABS and standard Carbon Ceramic brakes have caused a reduction in stopping distance from 62-0 mph in 107ft to around 90ft. According to British car magazine Autocar, the inspiration for the 458 Italia's design comes straight from the Enzo Ferrari and its Millechiliconcept car and was designed to be Ferrari's sportiest V8-engined car.

Sit back and enjoy the sounds of the 458 as Jethro Bovingdon rips it through the Stelivio Pass, one of the most beautiful and spectacular driving roads on earth.
