THE GT3 RS

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the most track-ready-road-legal 911 to date; its body is pierced in air-guiding vents and its rear haunches are filled with a 21" rim wrapped by a 12"-wide rear tire (the same found on the 918 Spyder Hypercar). It's rear wing has3 manually adjustable angles to allow the driver to get the most performance out of the wing as possible depending on the track. Combined, the front splitter and rear spoiler create 250lbs of downforce at 186mph.

Weight savings was another key aspect when designing the GT3 RS. The engine cover, front fenders and trunklid are all carbon fiber. While its roof is made of a 1mm-thick sheet of magnesium that saves 2.5lbs off the standard aluminum roof and 28 ounces lighter than a carbon fiber roof. The front fenders feature vents that decrease pressure build up in the wheel-wellI, reducing drag and help reduce weight. In all, Porsche saved 22lbs in body-panel weight alone compared to the GT3 despite its wider track. The european models feature a roll cage, cabin-mounted fire extinguisher, a six-point harness and wiring for a kill switch. Unfortunately we in the US can't enjoy these features. American Safety regulations state the car cabin cannot house any non-deformable objects that can injure the head of an occupant not wearing a seat belt. Luckily BBI Performance has designed a half-cage built from Chromoly steel tubing.
